How the love for leather cases started
What’s this blog all about? Ever since I got my first mobile phone, at ripe old age of 18 a NEC Sportz, I wanted the best case to protect my treasured gadget. I tried all types of cases : metal, plastic and silicon. But of all the cases that I tried and tested, I liked the feel and weight of leather cases. This is where my passion for leather cases began.

The more leather cases I used with different devices, the more I realised that there were better leather cases than others. The cases that really stood out for me were the ones that were soft, thin and allowed you to use all the buttons and ports of the device.

Starting my own leather case brand – Aranez
As the years went on, my knowledge and taste of leather cases developed to the point where I would easily find faults with most leather case brands on the market. This frustration was a good thing though, because it inspired me to create my own leather case brand. In 2010, after encouragement from a lot of friends both online and within my close circle, I designed and manufactured my first leather case, the iPhone 4 Pouch.

Quite interestingly, the iPhone 4 Pouch wasn’t made out of just anything leather, but from high performance genuine Australian kangaroo leather. I chose kangaroo leather because of it’s distinct properties such as it’s durability and lightness as compared to cow leather.

Was the iPhone 4 Pouch Leather Case successful? The iPhone 4 Pouch was a hit!

Within 6 months I had sold to 31 countries and all online. I was extremely happy with all the exposure my brand received – I was even featured in some Australian newspapers! It wasn’t long before some of the world’s largest websites were mentioning and reviewing my leather cases.

With Aranez leather cases, it’s never been rushing the brand or the business. To date, I still treat it as a hobby even though I’ve sold around $100,000 cases to date. Yes, in the future, I’ll expand my range and spend more time marketing to hopefully department stores and the like.
